Term 1 Week 6 - March 13th, 2025
From The Principals Desk
Dear Parents and Carers,
It is great to have everyone back at school today. The past two weeks have certainly seen an interruption to our ordinary daily lives! I would like to thank our parent community for your support and patience, particularly during this week, as we took time to reinstate the ground floor of the school, clean up the grounds and make the site safe for our students to return.
Thankfully the severity of the weather event did not realise the devastation that was predicted. Whilst many homes and businesses were impacted by the conditions as a result of TC Alfred, it appears that most within our community have seen it through safely albeit with some water damage, power outages and telecommunication issues. Some are still enduring these issues as service technicians continue to work through dangerous conditions to restore services to homes and businesses. We extend our gratitude to these workers, and their families, as they risk their own safety for the needs of others.
We also extend our gratitude to all those in paid and unpaid capacities who are actively involved in helping others in times of emergency.
I express my deep appreciation and gratitude to our St Joseph’s staff for the way we embraced the preparation challenge and reinstatement here at the school. The dedication and passion for our school and community has truly shone through over the past week. A lot of work that in the end was not needed, however we have no regrets! Better to be safe than sorry. Thank you to our wonderful team!
We also express our thanks to the team of tradesmen who were sent to help with heavy lifting by the Lismore Catholic Schools Office.
As we head back to normality, the term is racing away! We still have quite a lot happening over the next few weeks. You are welcome to join us where you can (excluding NAPLAN and School Photos!):
- St Joseph’s School Family Disco with DJ Matt this Friday evening, 14th March 5.30pm-7.30pm. This is a family event in the undercroft here at the school. Students must be accompanied by an adult. As is our custom, please bring a plate to share and enjoy the music and community atmosphere!
- Friday assemblies at 2.20pm each week.
- NAPLAN week 7 for years 3 and 5.
- St Joseph’s Day Mass at 10am with activities in the afternoon, Wednesday 19th March.
- Crazy Outfit Day (Caritas Fundraiser), Thursday 20th March.
- Parent Teacher Interviews on Tuesday 25th March and Thursday 27th March afternoons. Please book your time slot through Compass.
- School Cross Country Carnival, Friday 28th March.
- School Photos, Wednesday 2nd April.

We hope to see you all at our disco tomorrow evening!
Peace and blessings,
Jason Clarke
Principal

Cyclone Alfred ~ March 2025
We were definitely ready for Cyclone Alfred. Everything on our ground floor—yes, everything—was moved upstairs into our multipurpose room, library, and classrooms. This included refrigerators, a stove, a photocopier, our front desk, as well as all our art and sports equipment... even the doors!

We were so grateful for our St Joey's staff and the support sent from Lismore with a team of tradies.
"Team resilience is the ability of a group to adapt and bounce back from challenges. Resilient teams can maintain their performance and morale even when faced with difficulties. "
That's St Joseph's School!

GOD MOMENTS
* We saw a God moment when Kobe and Leo helped Miss Daly set up Running Club. Their generosity of time reminds us of Jesus, who showed us the importance of serving others with kindness and a willing heart.
* When Isla & Noah gave up their time to begin preparations for the new year of Mini Vinnies.
