Term 2 Week 6 - June 4th, 2025
From The Principals Desk
Dear Parents and Carers,
Year 6 were very fortunate to be participants in the inaugural faith formation day ‘Glow’ last Friday. It was a wonderful day of music from our diocesan band ‘Wildfire’, laughter, testimonials and fun. All of the year 6 students from across the Tweed region were present and involved in the day. It was such a pleasure to be part of!
This Friday we have our annual Grandparents day celebrations. The afternoon of festivities will begin in the classrooms with the ‘grandkids’ having the opportunity to explore various devices and aspects of technology ‘teaching the grandparents’ followed by afternoon tea and liturgy. As always all are welcome to join us.
All things athletics are heating up at St Joseph’s as the students prepare and continue to build toward our School Athletics Carnival on Friday 13th June. The carnival will be taking place at the Murwillumbah High School athletics track. As usual all are welcome to join us and cheer the students on throughout the day!
Kindergarten 2026 Enrolments
We are interviewing and enrolling now! We are calling for all enrolment applications to be in as soon as possible! We know we have siblings out there who will be ready to start their big school journey next year, so please get your enrolment application in soon. We have more applications than places available for 2026.

Sharing the Gospel
GLOW Ignites Year Six Students!
Our Year 6 students joined with peers from 8 other Catholic schools across the Tweed Zone for the GLOW retreat—a meaningful day to deepen their faith, connect with others, and reflect on God’s presence in their lives.
The theme, “God is light, and in Him there is no darkness,” encouraged us to recognise God’s light in our lives and reminded us that His love is always with us, even in difficult times.
We were guided by the Christian band Wildfire, whose music and message created an energetic and prayerful atmosphere—we couldn’t help but be inspired by the experience.
It was a day full of joy, connection, and reflection.
May we continue to shine His light in all we do and share that light with others.

A BEAUTIFUL PRAYER
Thank you Year 2 for sharing with us a new way of saying the Our Father. Your voices and actions will be remembered.

GOD MOMENTS
* When Leo W greets everyone with beautiful manners in the Office in the morning.
* When Zephyr and Jacob supported a friend in need and cheered them up this week. They showed what it means to live in the image of God through their kindness and compassion.
* When Yr 5 have enthusiastically taken on our assembly this week. It reminded us that God is with us when we try new things and helps us to shine.

Reconciliation Week
Last Thursday, our school community gathered in a spirit of reflection and unity to mark National Reconciliation Week 2025 with a special Reconciliation Flag Ceremony.
Guided by this year’s theme, Bridging Now to Next, it reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future.
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs H for her thoughtful planning and leadership in organising the ceremony.
We are also incredibly proud of our Stage 2 and Stage 3 students, who stepped up with confidence and care to help lead the service. Their respectful presence and participation truly reflected our school’s commitment to reconciliation and justice.
Together, we continue to walk the path of reconciliation with hope, courage, and compassion.

Sports News
DIOCESAN CROSS COUNTRY:
Last Thursday 6 students competed in the Diocesan Championships at Woolgoolga. Sam Stovold, Sierra Casagrande, Delilah Cleak, Pippa Bourke, Lyla McMahon and Mia McMahon all ran exceptionally well against very tough competition. The course was a very fast track against strong runners who were all contending for a place in the Lismore team. The top 8 in every age group will form the Lismore Diocesan team, competing in Sydney at the Polding Championships next Wednesday. All our students ran exceptionally well representing our school and themselves with great sportsmanship! Both St Joseph’s students and Mt St Patrick’s students and were able to open the event by reading the Welcome to Country (Lyla McMahon, Pippa Bourke and Sierra Casagrande) and the Prayer (Mt St Patrick students). Well done to all six competitors, you competed exceptionally well and should be proud of your achievements!

NSW AFL ALL SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS:
This week Pippa Bourke attended the NSW All Schools Championships in Sydney. This was a two-day tournament which brought all 6 teams together to include all of NSW public, catholic and independent schools! They played to determine the Champion team and select the NSW AFL team. Pippa played five games across the two days and contributed to her team (North Coastal and Inland team) in many valuable ways all whilst learning and gaining great experience! Congratulations Pippa! It’s fantastic to see you excelling in your sport!

The 1500m race is set for Thursday 5th June after school (4pm) on our oval. Students who wish to participate in the 1500m race will be supervised when the bell rings for the end of the day and until the races begin. Parents will need to assume responsibility once races begin as teachers will be assisting with time keeping. The 800m heats will be held during school sport time this Friday with the final (top 5) taking place at the carnival.
Our Athletics Carnival is set for next Friday 13th June at Murwillumbah High School athletics track.
