    From the Principal's Desk

    Dear Parents and Carers,

The final week of Term 3 has arrived and with it, plenty to celebrate before we go into the holidays. We have had our Term 3 SOLE Superstar Rewards day today, some well deserved fun for our wonderful, positive learners in acknowledgement of a great term of respecting self, others, learning and the environment!

NAIDOC Celebrations - Mufti dress on Thursday

Our NAIDOC celebrations also began today with some special art classes designed and run by Mrs Heterick and Mrs Glasby. We will be holding a NAIDOC assembly, organised by Mrs Heterick, celebrating our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures on Thursday at 12.30pm in the undercroft.

On Thursday students are invited to wear mufti dress, in the NAIDOC colours of Red, Black, Yellow, Blue, Green and White.

    Year 5 Leadership Day #2

Our Year 5 students participated in the second of their leadership days on Monday with Mrs Quinn and Mrs Martin. During these days they examine, through creative activities, the various skills, values and attributes it takes to be a positive leader through service to others. We look forward to witnessing all they learn throughout their three leadership days as they go about business here at school and within their daily lives! The Year 5 students will have the opportunity to nominate themselves for leadership positions as School Captains, Sports Captains and Student Disciples next term.

    NRL Gala day

We had some of our Stage 2 and Stage 3 boys attend the Tweed NRL Gala Day yesterday. It is wonderful that the boys had the opportunity to participate even though we didn’t have the numbers for senior and junior teams. We extend our gratitude firstly to Mt St Patrick Primary for working with us to field teams for the day, also to the organisers of the gala day for allowing us to enter amalgamated teams and most importantly to Ms Daley for her initiative and tenacity to get the boys involved! The boys performed very well with a 2-1 win loss ratio for both teams!

A reminder that this Friday is the final day of term for students and Tuesday 14th October will be the first day of term four for students.

May all of our students, staff and families have a relaxing two weeks away from the rigours of school life and return refreshed and energised for the final term of the year.

    Peace and blessings,

    Jason Clarke

    Principal

Get to know your child's friends and their families. Strong connections help your child feel a sense of belonging and safety.

Building strong connections with your child's friends and their families can be highly beneficial for your child's social and emotional development. Here are some reasons why getting to know your child's friends and their families is important:

    • Sense of Belonging. Knowing your child's friends and their families helps create a sense of belonging for your child. Feeling connected to a social group provides emotional support and fosters a positive sense of identity.
    • Enhanced Social Skills. Interacting with a diverse group of peers allows your child to develop and enhance their social skills. Building relationships with friends and their families contributes to improved communication, empathy, and cooperation.
    • Safety and Comfort. When your child knows their friends and their families well, they are likely to feel safer and more comfortable in social situations. Familiarity with the people around them can reduce anxiety and build a sense of security.
    • Shared Values and Expectations. Getting to know your child's friends' families allows you to understand shared values and expectations. Consistency in parenting styles and values contributes to a more cohesive and supportive social environment for the children.

    Sports News

Stage 3 Gala Day – Netball

Our netball team played seven tough games last Friday 19th September. While they didn’t come away with a win, they never gave up, showed determination right to the final whistle, and supported each other every step of the way. Their resilience and sportsmanship made us so proud to be St Joey’s!

    Stage 3 Gala Day - Non-Competitive Rotations

Our Stage 3 students had a fantastic day rotating through AFL, touch, netball and tennis. It was all about fun, learning new skills, and giving everything a go. Even better, they had the chance to meet and make new friendships with students from other schools.

It was wonderful to see so much laughter, teamwork, and encouragement on display all day. A great reminder that sport is not just about winning, but about trying new things and enjoying it.

Stage 3 Gala Day – Soccer Superstars!

What an awesome day for our St Joey’s teams — full of goals, teamwork, and great sportsmanship.

Boys Soccer: The boys had a mixed bag today with a win, a draw, and one tough loss. The way they stuck together, encouraged each other, and played as a team was fantastic. True Joey’s spirit on display.

Girls Soccer: The girls were unstoppable in their pool, winning every game and charging into the grand final. Although they went down 3–0 to a very strong St Anthony’s side, their teamwork, encouragement, and energy were outstanding.

We are so proud of every single player today — you represented St Joey’s with heart, pride, and plenty of smiles.

NRL Gala Day: 16 Students attended the Tweed All Schools NRL Gala Day on Tuesday 23rd September. Full details will be in the next newsletter once all information on the day has come in. Well done to our boys, we can't wait to read all about it! They are:

Junior Team: Eli Rudman, Banjo Ahrens, Kobe Robinson, Eli Casey, Corey Bray, Eli Reed, Fynn Holliday, Nate Jarman and Tate Bannister.

Senior Team:  Nakoha Heterick, Jaxon Mann, Ace Colleton, Archer Twyford, Misha Reed, Asher Morphett and Xavier Workman.
